The high winds at the DW Stadium caused havoc but Wigan Warriors grabbed the victory against Castleford Tigers after a try-less first half.
The opening 10 minutes weer error-strewn and scoreless but Wigan did manage to get themselves over the line in the 15th minute.
However, Zak Hardaker was denied by the TMO after knocking on in the in-goal area.
The points of the afternoon eventually came from a Castleford penalty which Peter Mata’utia slotted the ball through the posts.
The Castleford Tigers started to take a big grip of the game in the final 15 minutes of the half.
The Warriors looked to be doing enough to keep the visitors out but were being forced to defend multiple sets back-to-back.
Sean O’Loughlin conceded a penalty for a ball steal in the tackle and Mata’utia once again put two points on the board with half-time approaching.

The opening 10 minutes of the second-half also brought no tries.

On his return to the Warriors side, Sam Powell burrowed, twisted and turned his way over from five metres out to score.
Hardaker converted to give Wigan a narrow lead.
The back and forth battle down the middle between the two sides continued as the 70 minute mark ticked by.
Wigan nearly stretched their lead further as James Clare dropped a high kick, this allowed Joe Burgess to break down the left edge.
However, George Williams dropped the ball with the try-line beckoning.
This may have been a crucial error as Cas took control of the game once more in the final few minutes.
