Season Preview: Leeds Rhinos

The disappointing season in 2018 led to the arrival of David Furner and the Australian has improved the Rhinos squad immensely despite the exit of Joel Moon, Ryan Hall, Brett Delaney and Jordan Thompson.

Trent Merrin has come in as the new leader of the pack, there was no natural leader last year when injuries mounted and Merrin can play a whole 80 minutes when needed.

Tongan Tui Lolohea can bring out the best of those around him and with Richie Myler his half-back partner, Rhinos fans will look to see their player of the year become even better in 2019.

Outside of them both the world-class Kallum Watkins has returned from injury and is joined by a fan favourite Konrad Hurrell in what could prove to be a huge dual-centre threat.

England Schoolboys Callum McLelland and Harry Newman will look to seize the opportunity when handed the chance, and along with Jack Walker at fullback it looks as though the Rhinos will be playing a very attacking type of rugby league this season.

In order to do this players such as Mikolaj Oledzki and Cameron Smith will have to kick on.

Also, Jame Jones-Buchanan enters his final season with the Rhinos so he will want to go out on a high.

I see an improved finish for the Rhinos and a semi-final place is a must for the side.
