Season Preview: Hull FC

The pressure on this Hull FC side is astronomical. They head into this campaign after losing 11 games at the end of last season, with two of those by record margins.

Bold statements made by owner, Adam Pearson, have not been followed up on. None of the new players are world-beaters, and despite threats nobody as been pushed out of the door.

Jordan Abdull left for first-team game time at London Broncos and Jansin Turgut never quite fulfilled is potential in the play-making role.

Jake Connor, Marc Sneyd and Albert Kelly are three half-backs who will want to make the starting births their own. However three does not going into two.

One of these three will have to sit on the bench this season, so a potential departure of one of them during the season would make the squad even thinner.

There were question marks over how well the forwards performed at the end of last season but with the return of Jordan Thompson, and addition of Levy Nzoungou could the two add some much needed hard hitting to the pack.

There is also expectation that Jez Litten will provide a much-needed alternative off the bench to rotate with Danny Houghton.

Opening fixtures against Hull K.R., Castleford Tigers and Wigan Warriors mean that there is little margin for error before the very demanding Hull FC supporters start to become restless and seek change from Pearson and Radford.
